Been dayre-ing for the past few months rather than blogging because it's so convenient to simply upload photos and blog on the phone. But I've always had this nagging thought at the back of my head that I should be updating this space!
So I decided to check out if there's a mobile app for blogger, and yes there is! Yayy.
We were back at NYGH last weekend for the nanyang expo. It was nanyang's 97th founders day, and they were celebrating by having not only a funfair, but also an expo where they invited alumni back to exhibit their companies! Companies included Tunglok, spa esprit group, scanteak etc. Never knew these huge companies' founders/directors were from nanyang! So yes we were the smallest tiniest fry there. We were lucky to be invited because Sheena told her colleague about us!
It was quite an eye opener, the first thing impressing us was this huge backdrop printed specially for us, complete with a write up about our company and us as nygh alumni.
All the other companies had workers helping them set up their booths, while at JP's, it was just mama, Xinyi and I! Carrying our boxes of cakes and other barang barang from the car to the canteen and hall. Heavyyy!
This was how our booth looked after we set up! Basically we just displayed all our products, with a simple menu stand and our toppers box.
We only found out that we could only accept coupons on the day itself, and the smallest denomination was a dollar, so we had to adjust our prices! Prices were marked up as recommended by the school as part of the money was going to the school and charity. To be honest our cheesecups became overpriced after the mark up! Thank goodness we still managed to sell out despite the steep prices! We were pretty worried and demoralised in the morning, seeing other booths get business before we did. But things picked up in the afternoon!
We didn't actually meet many ex school mates, probably because you needed to purchase an entrance ticket to enter the expo (which we thought was a bad idea) but I did meet some gym friends and the ever so supportive suyi, Xiaowen and npcc girls (:
Xian brought lunch for us and helped out the whole afternoon! :))
Us with our booth! It was quite an experience for us, I was really rather inspired by the other much more successful alumni. Only pity was that we didn't really talk to them enough. We also managed to sell all that we brought there which was great! Hope that those who tried our cheesecups and the expo will visit our shop one day to buy more (:
