Shanghai

.

The photos in this post are a little jumbled up thanks to ming's not so fantastic uploading skills, but well it doesn't really matter!

.
Photo with huge haibao at our second hotel!

Our new hotel room! The hotel did a free upgrade for us so we had a pretty huge room, loved it! There were two televisions, perfect for us to watch soccer/tennis/yi tian tu long ji/gong xin ji.

There was a tailor at the lobby of the hotel and papa decided to make a suit! Although frankly speaking i didn't quite trust the tailor and his assistants, but they were nice!

Us camwhoring while papa chose his cloth and whatever.

That afternoon, we went to raffles city for lunch and some shopping. Saw quite a few singaporean brands there.

.

We had haagen dazs for tea! There're haagen dazs shops all over shanghai and their business is much much better than Singapore. Luckily for us, papa is a fan of haagen dazs too so we ate haagen dazs a few times. Yums.

Breadtalk just next to haagen dazs!

The icecream was great, but the cheesecake we ordered was bad! Jara petitblueberry cheesecups are definitely way nicer than haagen dazs! Confirmed by papa, mama and minghui! We couldn't even finish the cheesecake 'cause it was quite horrible.

We pretty much shopped the day away, and here were my buys! I got havaianas thanks to minghui's inaccurate calculation of the price =X I'm a really price person, uber attracted to cheap stuff. Haha. And i bought sports wear from practically every sports brand out there! Adidas, nike and li ning!

The next day we decided to take train to somewhere else in search of H&M!

It was a long long walk from the train station to H&M, so long we almost gave up!

But we perservered on thinking of all the clothes there..

Passed by a barbie building! Selling all sorta barbie related stuff.

They even had barbie spa, manicure, facial and all!

Finally finally, we found H&M.

Think there were 4-5 floors in the H&M building, loved it! The best thing was the clothes were nice and pretty affordable!

We didn't waste our efforts hunting for the place, made great buys! =D

In the evening we went so some place called 新天地. Lotsa expats hang out there, 'cause there were lotsa bars and restaurants, and the whole area had a pretty european feel. Quite nice!

At night we went back to nanjing street again to shop a little and have haagen dazs again =D

Our main destination the next day was 上海书城! It's a building with 7 floors of books! Minghui and i happily explored the building and browsed books while our parents and uncle and auntie slacked at kfc. Most of the books were chinese though and i've never really read chinese books, but many of the books had pretty covers and seemed quite interesting!

Our buys!
The first book on top is a comic/book written by a japanese lady who's 150cm, recording her experiences at a height of 150cm. Hahaa. Totally apt for the toh family girls.

I'm guilty to admit to not having read a single book though. Shall start soon!

Dinner!

Best redbean ice ever.

On our last day in shanghai, we accidentally discovered this awesome shopping place at an underpass! The underpass was really long, and there were hundreds of shops and pushcarts. But we didn't have time to shop 'cause we had to rush to the airport :( I managed to buy a hat though!

And we realised jay chou was in shanghai the same time as we were! Omg screams. But we didn't see him la. Sad.

Oh jumping back to one of the nights earlier on, we went to visit 外滩. (The bund) It's along huang pu river with lotsa historical buildings and stuff along it. Like most parts of shanghai, it was uber crowded.

To our surprise, papa wanted to go for the cruise ride along huangpu river. We were totally NOT excited seeing the number of people on the boats. We were right not to be omg.
When we arrived at the ticketing booth, the booths were already closed i think. But some lady told us she had the last few tickets for the last cruise, and we had to rush in order to catch it. And so she asked us to follow her, and leave the bund, cross a road to go somewhere else. Which puzzled me 'cause we were walking away from the river!
We then arrived at this small little booth on the street, out of nowhere, and were told that there'd be someone coming to pick us up and send us to the jetty. So shady la. After a few minutes this lousy dirty looking van came to pick us up, and together with a few other equally clueless tourists, we boarded the bus. I was praying they were not gonna kidnap us hurhur. On our way there the driver was honking like mad and driving as fast as he could.
It was total chaos when we finally reached our destination! There were like hundreds of tourists there, many blur ones. And we were told to follow some security guard like person. If i didn't remember wrongly we had to run to join the queue 'cause our cruise was leaving. What the hell. To our horror the queue was like bursting with so many chinese tourists! Chinese who push and shove and cut queues like nobody's business. Faints.
.
My worst queueing experience ever, didn't even know why we actually let ourselves go through THAT. And the drama didn't end there. 'Cause the cruise tickets had timings printed on them, apparently like all the people queuing there had missed their cruise. Including us. There were people quarreling, like shouting at the top of their lungs with the people working there, people pushing trying to force their way in. Omg, i wanted to die. Then they told us we had to exchange our ticket with some guy at the entrance while to get in. During which i was squeezed by people, shouted at by the people working there for i dunno what reason. It was crazy.

When we finally got through the gate, we still couldn't relax. Everyone was running toward the cruise. And so we ran too -_- After we got the the cruise, people were running up to the upper deck the chope spots. Like, omg.

But phew, since we were the first few who got to enter, we managed to get a good spot at upper deck. But as more people entered, they tried squeeze us away. I refused to budge. Haha. Oh wells, the cruise was pretty nice la. Totally not worth the trouble though.

Most if not all of shanghai's buildings are very nicely lit so the night view is pretty. Only if the air was less hazy though, it'd be so much nicer.

Those two buildings look like they're on fire.
Yupyup, so that's all for my shanghai trip! It was a pretty fulfilling shopping trip i'd say, with the many shopping malls and streets everywhere. Stuff are generally the same price if not more expensive than those in Singapore though, with the exception of zara :)

And videos!

Durian dessert buffet at goodwood park after that! Thanks to xuewei who introducted to us :D

Our 2nd performance!

It's the most last minute performance I ever had, with just 3 days notice, 1 training, plus the scariness of having to mid fly (which was pretty fun!) And i had to rush down after work, make up, do hair in the car and i was so scared we wouldn't have enough time to warm up! Luckily we did! Then after that there were worries about the height clearance, fans and slippery floor! But thank goodness things went smoothly! :D

Btw, gotta thank weicheng and wenliang for helping us spot+take pictures!

Thanks kaycee for being such an awesome base. Especially for shoulder stand which i absolutely suck at!!
.

Go Astros :D
