During our stopover at i don't know where, I got a fish ramli burger! Yums.
Unfortunately, on our arrival in KL, NOTHING went according to plans. We alighted at where we thought the bus terminal would be, only to find that it was renovating. And so we got onto a cab that sent us to another bus terminal.
At the bus terminal we were told that there were no more buses going up to cameron highlands from KL, and they suggested for us to get tickets to ipoh, and assured us that there would be buses at ipoh that were going up to cameron highlands.
To our horror, the coach left late, and we were told by a friendly passenger on the coach that it was too late and there wouldn't be any buses from ipoh to cameron highlands anymore. WTH.
Fortunately, we met a bangladesh guy on the bus who works in cameron highlands and was on his way back there too, so we decided to share a cab with him! He had a friend who works as a taxi driver on cameron highlands, and before this friend arrived, we had dinner together! The guy was very friendly, and he could converse pretty well in Malay and English!
Very wet type of char kway teow!
His taxi driver friend had a hard time finding us, but thank goodness he eventually did. He then sent us to another coffee shop for our second dinner! 'Cause they were worried we wouldn't be able to find any food if we reach cameron highlands too late.
By the way, his taxi was as old as me if not older and very very lao pok. The windows had to be manually wound down (remember those handles you had to turn?), they couldn't be wound down all the way, and the door couldn't be really opened from the outside. Apparently the taxi uncle was too attached to the car and couldn't bear to change it.
I was pretty worried on our way up cameron highlands, firstly because i was afraid there'd be cockroaches in the taxi, and secondly because an accident just happened the night before we were there! But thank goodness, our journey up went pretty smoothly, except that the taxi uncle claimed he knocked down a snake which he was VERY SAD about. He seems like a very kind man.
The journey took almost 2 hours, and slowly i started to relax and enjoy the cooling breeze. Saw some nice sights along the way! Many of the farms had their lights on and looked very pretty at night :)
Finally finally, we arrived at our resort, century pines resort. We walked out for supper at a very high tech prata shop which had free wifi!
The heater was not working that night, and i had the coldest, quickest, shower ever. Think i didn't even get rid of all the soap on me!
Rise and shine! Breakfast time!
We went for a walk around the area. There was a waterfall nearby but we didn't have proper footwear to get there, so we gave it a miss. The sun was shining very brightly that day, gave everything a nice colour!
Love all the flowers there!
In the afternoon, we checked out of the resort and headed to our second hotel, equatorial! This hotel was closer to most of the farms!
View from our balcony.
We visited the strawberry farm, but it was such a disappointment. I imagined a huge farm with rows and rows of strawberry plants that we could freely walk along. But in the end there weren't that many rows, and we were only allowed to walk down one row. Where all the strawberries were pathetically small and green. SAD.
We heard that the strawberry milkshake there was nice, so we stopped by the cafe for some desserts. Strawberry milkshake was not bad, strawberries with chocolate syrup and marshmellows was.. well not very good.
We saw more strawberry merchandise than real strawberries.
Lovely
We didn't join any tours, thinking we could just visit all the farms by foot.
But we realised the farms weren't that nearby, and we had to walk along the road shoulder to get from farm to farm! I think we were the only tourists doing that.
Orchid farm :)
Ooh, red strawberry spotted.
Had my favourite baskin robbins ice cream and some auntie anne's pretzels! =D
Unfortunately, we saw a very cheap fish spa place there, and kaycee made me do it again.
Kaycee scooping up the fish with his feet. =X
After central market, kaycee finally got to eat the beef noodles he has been raving about!
Kahweng came to meet us!
After lunch, we walked around china town for a bit!
After that, kahweng drove us to KLCC. Love the decor there!
Thanks kahweng for being our photographer!
Too bad the peaks of the towers weren't captured in this picture, but i still like it!
At night, we went back to bbpark near our hotel for dinner at outback restaurant! These fried mushrooms were yummayy.
Chilled at a pub. Their margaritas sucks.
Someone's cool vintage car!
Further down from where we were, lots and lots and people were gathered, waiting for midnight to strike. Similar to Singapore, there were many crazy people going around spraying fake snow at people. We dared not get to close to the crowd! We thought there was some event going on and there'd be fireworks or sth but nothing happened when midnight struck. Oh wells.
Here're my presents from kaycee! Gotta love tatty bear, the cutest bear in the whole world. My present to kaycee.
It was time to go home the next day!
Camwhoring at the bus terminal while waiting for kahweng!
Had a quick breakfast at a coffeeshop nearby with kahweng before we headed home!
Our coach back to Singapore was the Five Stars coach! It was indeed five stars. With lotsa room, massage chair (which was spoilt though) and in coach entertainment! Unfortunately i was car sick halfway through a movie AND i had to hold my pee for more than an hour so i was kinda suffering for part of the journey back. Oh, did i mention we were the only passengers on the coach together with another uncle? Haha. Can't wait for my next holiday!
