Krabi day 3!!

We woke up to bad weather on day 3! SO SAD! We were supposed to go for the phi phi islands tour but it was cancelled!
Anyhow, we still had to have breakfast, so we braved the rain to macdonald's! They sell McEgg at the macdonald's there! Loves it! Singapore ought to be more vegetarian friendly and sell such meat-less burgers too! I always buy sausage mcmuffin and give away the sausage in singapore!

Kaycee's big breakfast with lotsa pepper!

Angry waves and gloomy weather :(

With our tour postponed, we desperately tried to look for some other activity to occupy our day!

Here's old uncle kaycee with a backache.

Me studying the different activities to do on krabi. We wanted to visit the four islands because it was our last free day to, but all the tours were cancelled due to the bad weather! So we thought of canoe-ing, but our hearts were still hoping for a visit to the four islands. We decided to walk around a little more, and that was when this uh, boatman approached us! We asked if we could visit the four islands and he said yes! We would have to do a private booking of the boat, and since it wasn't too expensive and we were desperate, we immediately agreed!

We rushed to have a quick lunch, excited about our four islands tour! The weather was taking a turn for the better!
I'm hungry.

The boatman told us we had to travel to a pier that was a distance away, so we followed him on our scooter! When we arrived we saw lotsa boats! Longtails and speed boats!

We wished this was the private boat we had booked. Fat hope :(

Our private boat which we thought to be a speedboat was a LONGTAIL BOAT! OMG. Imagine our disbelief. At first we thought the boatman tricked us, but figured that we probably made a mistake ourselves. We had no choice anyway, so we decided to go!

Still not bad to have a boat all to ourselves la, even if it's just a wooden boat. (It had a motor though!)

5 minutes after we set off, I started regretting. Big time. It was raining, the waves were uber choppy, water was splashing in, the boat was rocking up and down like a roller coaster and there was no. one. in. sight. We were in the middle of the ocean on a wooden long tail boat that was open air, at the risk of being flung out anytime. I was seriously damn damn scared. That was my worst experience on a boat ever. I grabbed the railings and held kaycee's hand so tightly.

After what felt like forever, we finally saw a boat in sight as well as an island not far away. It was very much a consolation that we saw another boat, 'cause at least if we capsized, someone would know. A while later, we reached our first island!

How very happy I was to set foot on land again!

Poda island!

It wasn't much, the beach was pretty small and there was nothing on the island. Felt like a ghost island to me!

Our private sampan.

After a while, we set off again! I wasn't that nervous anymore 'cause i could see islands all around. We passed by tup island that had a nice looking little white beach!

We visited another island first though. It had a tiny beach which wasn't nice, and a run down restaurant. No one was there 'cause all the tours were cancelled 'cause of the bad weather. We got a drink and set down to chill a bit.

Poor kaycee was in alot of pain. :S

This is a house that the restaurant owner probably stays in! I can't imagine living there 'cause there's really NOTHING on the island! The beach that the restaurant+house were on was probably less than 100m wide?

We were standing on the spit! If i didn't remember my geography wrongly. When the tide's low people can actually walk to tup island from the chicken island! (Oh ya btw i realised later that was chicken island, but we haven't seen the chicken head yet!) Too bad we couldn't that day :( That'd be fun.

One of the highlights of the four islands tour must be when we saw the chicken head! The legendary chicken head haha. Really looks like one!
And so we camwhored with the chicken head while the boatman tried to fix the motor on our boat. YES THE MOTOR WAS FAULTY OMG.

So after we had enough fun camwhoring with the chicken head, we headed to tup island!
Of the 3 islands we'd visited so far, it'd be nice to have THIS island to ourselves, but too bad there were other tourists there! But then again, i didn't really mind having company that much after being very much alone on the scary boat ride for forever.

By the time we were on the island, the sky had cleared up :D We took a dip there :))

Slacked around for a while before we visited our last beach! Oh and I almost forgot, our boatman had to ask another person to drive another sampan to replace ours! Thank goodness he didn't tell us the boat was faulty when we were on our way to the first island. I would have died thinking I was going to die.

Can't remember what the beach was called, but it was located on raileys island if i'm not wrong. Just a different side of the island from the one we visited earlier.

It was the nicest beach I'd say, with the greenish, reddish cliff thingie next to it. And the clear blue sky made the view even better!

We saw many monkeys on this beach! I wonder if they can swim since they stay so near to the sea. Hmm..

This beach was actually pretty happening, there were some resorts there that looked really atas, people selling food, people rockclimbing and sunbathing etc. etc.

Greedy me couldn't resist a corn on a stick!

Monkey ja climbing a tree.

Scorpion!

Jump shots =D

No jump shots of kaycee 'cause he was dying from his broken back :((

A photo together :))

I would have hung around on that beach a while longer if kaycee wasn't in so much pain :S

.

So we finally returned to aonang after that! I'd say I don't regret going on the tour although some of the islands weren't that impressive, and it was so dangerous! It was actually kinda fun just spending time with kaycee alone (plus the boatman) visiting random islands.

.

That evening, we rode our a little further out of aonang in search of dinner. Found this place that served different types of curry with some beehoon like thing. Bleaugh forgot my camera, and it's so hard to describe what we ate :(

.

After dinner, we went back to phra nang spa for thai massage! They let us use the sauna and showers for free so it was pretty shiok. Thai massage was definitely more painful than the aromatherapy spa we had the night before, but it felt pretty good! I also had the worst manicure ever done that night :( I think it was 'cause they were in a rush to close the shop, they only painted my nails with ONE layer of colour. Full stop. And it was terrible. The only consolation was that it was very cheap and they did classic manicure for me. The lady was nice enough too. Just that I removed the nail polish immediately after i returned back to Singapore.

.

Yup so that's all for day 3! Phi-phi islands up next!

KRABI DAY 2!!

Not bad, i'm rather efficient!
Good morning!

We happily rode our scooter in search of breakfast! It's great to not have to walk around on foot all the time!

.

This is what I had! Cheese crepe with condensed milk! Very similar to cheese prata and very yummy!

Thai iced tea! I think thai iced tea is only nice is thailand! The one i tried at thai express sucked :(

Kaycee's breakfast!

After breakfast, we took a long tail boat to raileys island as planned!

Raileys turned out to be very disappointing though. There wasn't much (if anything to do there), and we just walked through the forest exploring.

I read about rockclimbing at krabi before i went, and was quite keen to try. But when we really found the rock climbing place, i was too timid to try, especially seeing all the pro ang mohs around!

We decided to explore some random diamond cave instead! Sounds rather adventurous to explore a cave, but it was nothing much. It was much bigger than i imaginedthough.

The don't-know-what behind me has lotsa sparkles in it, i guess that's why it's called diamond cave!

Since it was so boring, we decided to leave pretty soon.
Although I wouldn't say the beaches at krabi were that fantastic, there's something about the cliffs surrounding beaches that attracts me.

Long tail boats waiting to fetch us back to aonang!
The most eventful part of the trip to and fro raileys must be when a fish jumped onto our boat and landed right at my feet. I screamed.

We had macdonald's for lunch! Unfortunately, I had the worst cheese fries ever. Disappointing.

Not expecting our trip to raileys to be so short, we had nothing else planned for the day, so we decided to go on another road trip away from aonang! This time our destination was the tiger cave! Not that we were really interested in it, but it was one of the tourist attractions there so we just decided to go!
We abandoned our helmets on the second day. SUPER DANGEROUS RIGHT! It was peer pressure though, almost no one wore helmets in krabi and so we didn't wanna seem like noobs.

Love the awesome blue sky and vehicle-less road that belonged to us.

Btw, we got lost for quite a long while! We tried asking for directions but they didn't seem to match! But eventually eventually, we did find the tiger cave!

Actually we aren't sure what was in the tiger cave. The 1237 step to top mountain seemed more special! My mum mentioned it to me before 'cause she watched it on tv, and i was really all set to hike up. Didn't think it would be THATTT tough. Thought it'd be quite a good act to put in some effort to get to the temple at the top where I'd pray for my family and loved ones!

He wasn't very sure about that though.

Us after climbing 187 steps, it didn't seem that bad! Other than a lady that we met who was on her way down and had given up.

I swear I wasn't that tired, but when i saw these steps, i decided to give up.

269th.

The steps were so high and steep i was so afraid i'd just tumble down and die!! I couldn't imagine making my way down those steps omg.

Although it's kinda embarassing to have given up, I'm glad we did 'cause only after we came back did i hear that it takes even the fittest people at least 2.5 hours to get to the top!

So I didn't manage to go visit the temple :( But i still hope pu sha will bao you!

Monkeys trying to enter 7-11. Hurhur.

During the time we were lost, we discovered that an outlet village was just nearby! Uber excited!

But omg, it was nothing like the american ones although kaycee said the concept was pretty much the same. The was a very limited variety of stuff sold and they weren't even very cheap! Oh dear, Krabi seems to have disappointed us so much so far. But even so i was still enjoying myself with kaycee!

Even the ice cream sucked. Oh wells.

When we finally made it back to ao nang, we decided to reward ourselves with a spa session! There were plenty of massage and spa centres around, but most of them looked lousy! We chose phra nang spa in the end although its charges were double the price of the other places! 'Cause it looked nice, professional and most importantly, clean! There were more atas spa places in a couple of resorts but those were really expensive.

I'm proud to say we made a right choice! The service at phra nang spa was great, and the place was nice and comfy too :)
A picture at the beach before the sky grew too dark!

We decided to splurge on a good meal after spa!

Kaycee was attracted by the super big tiger prawns!
They were huge, but I didn't think the taste was out of the world. Not bad though.

The curry was good! Yums. Thai food rocks.
While grocery shopping at a convenience stall later that night, I spotted this! Tinkerbell pez!! I was so tempted to get it, but i think i felt that was expensive as compared to other stuff in krabi so i didn't :( It's so cute isn't it! And I used to loveee pez. Love how the thingie works, and the sweets are pretty nice too!

Love, ja
